The short version

Velvet & Crumb Artisan Bakery (“we”, “us”, “our”) runs this website. We don’t require accounts, don’t ask you to log in, and don’t store information about you on our servers. The website is a catalogue. It shows you our products and helps you order via WhatsApp.

Because we don’t collect personal information, this policy is short. That’s deliberate.

What we collect

Nothing on our servers. The website itself does not store any information about you. There is no database, no account system, and no analytics tracking.

Locally on your device: When you add items to your cart, those items are saved in your browser’s local storage. This is a small file on your own device. It is not sent to us. It lets your cart survive if you refresh the page or navigate between pages. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.

When you send an order or enquiry: If you tap the WhatsApp button or submit the contact form, your message is opened in WhatsApp. We receive your name, the message content, and your WhatsApp phone number — because those are the parts of a WhatsApp conversation.

What we don’t collect

• We don’t set cookies.
• We don’t use analytics services like Google Analytics.
• We don’t use advertising trackers or pixels.
• We don’t store payment information — we never take card details on this website.
• We don’t collect your location or IP address.
• We don’t have a newsletter, and we don’t sell or share contact lists.

WhatsApp

When you use any WhatsApp link on this website, the conversation happens on WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta. WhatsApp has its own privacy policy, and we do not control what WhatsApp does with your data. We recommend reading WhatsApp’s privacy policy if this concerns you.

What we do with messages you send us:

• We read them and reply.
• We use them to process your order or answer your question.
• We keep them for as long as needed to fulfil the order and for our own records — typically up to 12 months.
• We do not share them with third parties except where necessary to complete a delivery.

Third parties

We rely on a small number of third-party services to run this website:

• Website hosting — the site is served by a hosting provider. Standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested) may be kept by the host for security purposes. We do not access or analyse these logs.
• Google Maps — the map on our Contact page is embedded from Google. Google may set its own cookies when you interact with it. See Google’s privacy policy.
• Google Fonts — we load two typefaces from Google Fonts. Google may log the request.
• WhatsApp — described above.

Your rights

Because we don’t hold personal information about you on our website, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete from the site itself.

For information contained in WhatsApp conversations with us, you can:

• Ask us what we hold about you
• Ask us to correct anything that’s wrong
• Ask us to delete your messages and contact information

If we ever start collecting information — for instance, if we add a newsletter or a payments system — we’ll update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. We won’t sneak changes through without reflecting them here.
